Agostini's Farmhouse - Tuscany by the owner

We can understand it was a typical house used by farmers observing
that the road doesn't run in front of it: in fact , farmers used the
threshing floor in front of the house to dry corn, beans and wheat. So
they always built their houses with the facade towards south, no
matter where the road was!

The building id quite old: we don't know exactly when it was built but probably
it was not later than the 18th century.

What is certain is that the Agostini family has been living here
since, at least , the beginning of the 19th century. The Agostini were
farmers and part of the house was used for their activity : the large
window on the right was open on a large room used to shelter hay, and
the large entrance below was necessary for the ox cart and the gig.
Where there is the kitchen now , once there was the cellar to store
wine and "vin santo".

The part of the house you are renting was restored in the 70s,
and a second bathroom was added downstairs in 2006 .
The furniture of the main bedroom has a story by itself : a carpenter
made it for his own marriage, with very good woods and a lot of care.
Then his marriage failed and our grandmother Bruna, who was getting married as well
in that period, bought the furniture for her new bedroom !
The bed is more than 50 years old, but don't worry, we have replaced the mattresses !
On top of the bed, there is a painting representing the Madonna and the Child, which is
very typical of country homes.

Even if the building is so old, don't be afraid: it isn't haunted!
